See where the score stands

Every test your child takes turns into a study plan.

Most prep hands your child a number and moves on. GTS Academics breaks that number apart, so you always know the next thing to work on.

From finished test to plan, in under a minute

A real result landing: the score, the readiness verdict, the section bars, and the weak spot list with a Practice button on every row. No grading by hand, no waiting, no guessing.

See the weak section in one glance

The moment a test ends, the score splits into Verbal, Quantitative, Reading, Math, and Language. You know where the points are leaking before dinner, not after weeks of guessing.

Fix the exact topics that are slipping

Weak spot analysis names the topics costing points, like Geometry at 55%, and builds a drill from the questions your child actually missed. Study time goes where the points are.

HSPT weak spot report ranking topics by accuracy, each with a practice button

No more "I don't know why it's wrong"

Open any question after a test: the right answer, why it's right, and why your child's pick wasn't. If it still doesn't click, one tap asks the AI tutor to walk through it.

Catch the clock problem early

The HSPT allows roughly 16 to 42 seconds per question depending on the section. The pacing report shows exactly where your child runs out of time, so speed gets practiced, not discovered on test day.

Watch the score climb, run after run

Every test lands on one chart. You watch 58% become 78% over six weeks instead of wondering whether the practice is doing anything.

Practice, help, and you in the loop

Real test conditions. Real help when they're stuck. A report in your inbox.

Your child practices under the real clock, gets unstuck without waiting for you, and you follow the whole thing from one Sunday email.

An explanation at 9pm without the tutoring bill

When they're stuck, Ms. Rivera explains the why behind any question, draws the figure, and answers the follow up. HSPT tutors charge $50 to $65 an hour for that conversation. This one is built in.

Practice they actually want to come back to

Every topic is a level on a map: play it, get scored, earn stars and XP, unlock the next. One honest miss gets an instant explanation. The hardest part of test prep is getting an 8th grader to do it twice. This is how.

Make test day feel like the fourth time

Exam mode keeps the official pace, the real clock, and the real section order, with a live pacing coach along the way. Familiarity is what the HSPT rewards.

Three ways to use a Tuesday night

Full length timed tests, single section runs, and quick topic drills. The same 894 real questions, sized to fit whatever time your child has today.

One email every Sunday, so you stay in the loop

Questions answered, minutes practiced, the score trend, and the one section to focus on this week. You see whether the practice is happening without standing over a shoulder.

Common questions

Questions parents ask us

What is the HSPT?

The High School Placement Test (HSPT) is a standardized entrance exam published by Scholastic Testing Service (STS). Catholic and other private high schools use it for admissions, scholarships, and course placement. Most students take it in the fall or winter of 8th grade.

How many questions are on the HSPT?

The HSPT has 298 multiple choice questions across five sections: Verbal Skills (60), Quantitative Skills (52), Reading (62), Mathematics (64), and Language (60), taken in about two and a half hours.

How is the HSPT scored?

There is no penalty for wrong answers, so you should never leave a question blank. Raw scores are converted to scaled scores (200 to 800) and reported as national and local percentile ranks. See our scoring guide for what counts as a good score.

Is the HSPT hard?

The HSPT tests speed and familiarity more than obscure knowledge. The Verbal section is especially fast, about 16 seconds per question. Most students find it very manageable after a few full length, timed practice tests.

Can you retake the HSPT?

STS discourages retakes. If you take it twice, some schools receive the lower score or average the two. Prepare as though you get one attempt.

How do I prepare for the HSPT?

Take full length, timed practice tests and review every missed question until you understand it. GTS Academics offers three free full length HSPT practice tests with official pacing and an explanation for every question.
